OVERVIEW

As a result of ship impact damage to the leading jetty of Port of Tilbury, Topbond secured the contract for the repairs by a competitive tender.

THE CHALLENGE

To enable the donut fender pile and supporting structure works to take place, Topjack had to be positioned behind the lead-in jetty. Comprehensive planning took place to ensure that Topjack was set up and all appropriate plant and materials were placed onboard to ensure safe and prompt completion. Topjack was strategically placed in position by two tugs and the wind turbines were isolated in line with the site requirements.

THE SOLUTION

Once the barge had been placed, the works commenced. Following an initial dive survey, the damaged piles were removed and placed on deck, the new piles were offered up prior to being installed. Following on from this the top supports were replaced holding the piles in position. A well-executed project in a tight environment.
